Solar Power And
You
If you're interested in generating solar electric power to
heat your home or your water, then there is no other way to go
than with solar panels.
Over the hundreds and thousands of
years, human have needed some sort of energy to power their
lives, and their homes. Power sources like heating fuels like
oil and petroleum, natural gas, coal and wood were used
extensively in the past, and are still used in some parts of the
world and in a percentage of power plants to produce the kind of
energy modern humans use, electricity. However these types of
fuels aren't known for their eco-friendliness so alternative
energy sources have been looked for and found. The greenest form
of energy modern humans have come up with till now is of course
solar electric power. This solar electric power can be harvested
with the aid of solar panels.
Generating solar electric
power involves using solar panels, which are nothing but flat
crystal structures that have the ability to catch sunlight and
to convert it into solar electric power and heat. The crystals a solar panel is made up of are called solar cells or
photovoltaic cells, and they are the ones that convert the sun's
rays directly into electricity. Solar cells create solar
electric power because when sunlight strikes them, electrons are
dislodged thus creating an electrical current. This solar
electric power is then conducted with the help of wires, and can
be used to directly power your appliances or it get be stored in
large rechargeable batteries. Solar panels can generate solar
electric power because they are practically a large collection
of such solar cells, lined up and made into flat sheets. Solar
panels can be erected on top of your house's roof, or even on
the side of a hill on your property, where they will be hit by
sunlight in the strongest way. Solar panels and solar electric
power tend to work best in areas where there is a large amount
of sunlight that can be absorbed for the longest part of the
day, so if you live in a part of the world that is really shady
or generally cloudy, solar electric power may not be the best
choice if you're interested in green energy.
In the United
States there are some states that offer discounts on property
taxes and incentives to purchase a home solar electric power
system. Those that choose to do so will no longer have to be
connected to the "grid", and won't have to purchase electricity
or other types of energy to power their home. At the present
time it isn't known for sure if solar electric power is
considerably cheaper than other forms of heating and power, but
it is thought that in the long run solar electric power will
cost you less per year to power your home. And of course the
biggest incentive for most house holds is that the solar
electric power they use is eco-friendly.
Purchasing solar panels and generating solar electric power is a
great way to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment
as well as providing a renewable energy source for your needs.
The potentially lower energy costs can also be a good reason to
opt for solar electric energy for your home and family.
