Solar Energy Case Studies and
Testimonials - Projects Past and Present
Grid-Tied Solar
Energy Photovoltaic System Barry Schmidt
The home site is situated on a number of acres and is
located in a canyon on the north facing slope with pines
and oak trees in the steepest areas. Not all of the
property had full sun throughout the year, but the array
location had good afternoon exposure.
Off Grid Residential Solar Power Case Study Vicki Reid
The site is located in Descanso, California, just east
of San Diego. The site is in a small valley and at an
elevation of about 3,000 feet. The site sees high summer
temperatures of over 100 degrees and winter temperatures
in the low 30s. The home had a roof that was oriented
perfectly for southern exposure and was an ideal
platform for the solar array.
Commercial Off-Grid Solar Energy System Case Study Mono
Lake
The site is located at Mono Lake, California. This is an
extremely remote and harsh environment. Summer
temperatures extend into the high 80s and in the winter
the temperatures can go into the low 20s and winds can
gust to 100 + mph. These winds blow an acidic
combination of sand and lake salts onto the site.
Accessing the site required the use of ATVs and tracked
vehicles due to the sand dunes and the soft blowing sand
conditions. The existing solar system that was in place
at the site showed signs of extensive abrasion on the
modules from blowing sand. All electrical equipment had
fine dust intrusion and was failing due to the harsh
conditions.
Off Grid Residential Solar Power Case Study Vic Cooper
The site is located in Big Sur, California about one
mile from the closest utility power pole. The property
islocated on very steep terrain at 1800 feet above the
Pacific Ocean with numerous scrub oaks on site. Although
the majority of the property is steep, it does receive
good southern exposure with no obstructions.
Apex Solar Testimonials
We were very much satisfied. I thought the job was
professionally done. The components he picked out seemed
to work well together. We’re still in construction and
haven’t moved into our house so I don’t know about the
sizing, but he did a thorough job of asking questions
about our electricity use and how we would use the
system.
